The primary objective of the collaboration was to build a custom AI-powered chat solution to improve internal communication and streamline access to organizational knowledge. By moving beyond standard off-the-shelf tools, Emeritus aimed to create a secure, scalable system tailored to their specific enterprise needs. The system leverages Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) and the Google Gemini Pro model to deliver fast, reliable, and secure AI assistance across teams.

The project focused on four critical pillars to ensure success:
Chat Application Foundation: Establishing a robust, user-friendly chat interface for employees.
Model Integration: Seamlessly integrating the Gemini Pro model for high-quality responses.
Security & Governance: Implementing Role-Based Access Controls (RBAC) and data protection measures.
Cost Validation: Ensuring the solution was cost-effective compared to other market alternatives.
The Solution: Infrastructure & Tech Stack
Wohlig engineered a comprehensive solution built on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to ensure scalability, security, and high availability.
Compute & AI: The core application runs on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), utilizing the Gemini Pro API for generative capabilities and Document AI for intelligent file processing.
Storage & Database: Data is managed using Cloud Storage, Firestore, and Cloud SQL to handle chat history and document retrieval efficiently.
Security: Access is strictly governed via Identity-Aware Proxy (IAP) and Cloud IAM, allowing employees to log in using existing company credentials. Cloud Armor provides additional defense against threats.1
DevOps: A full CI/CD pipeline using Cloud Build and Artifact Registry ensures continuous updates and stability.
